This role is responsible for development of policy frameworks to support decision making in pre- and post-incursion planning. This includes prioritisation of invasive species based on the threats they pose, determination of intended outcomes for their management, and development and maintenance of linkages with Commonwealth and State agencies.

The role is also expected to contribute to invasive plant and animal legislation projects and respond in a flexible way to short-term policy on invasive plant and animal biosecurity issues, including providing policy analysis and advice to senior management and Government. Critical to this role will be excellent communication and analytical skills. The incumbent will be expected to be able to work effectively and independently at senior levels of government, and consult with industry and community leaders.
